Site work for a mixed-use development in Lac La Biche, Alberta. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
The maximum water demand at the site is anticipated to be 7 m3/day (1.3 US gpm). In accordance with the 'Guide to Groundwater Authorization' Parks Division will not require the installation of an observation well for the water requirement of less than 10 m3/day. The contractor to monitor water level changes in the water source well during a 2-hour constant-rate pumping test, including 2 hours of pumping and 2 hours of recovery monitoring (or until the water level recovers back to 90% of the static water level). Additionally, the contractor is required to conduct: Sampling of the water source well during the pumping test for routine water quality parameters; A field verified survey (FVS) to document registered water source wells in the area (if any); and, A preliminary assessment to ensure that the groundwater in not under the direct influence of surface water (GWUDI assessment). The contractor to ensure that the new well locations are situated based on the criteria outlined in the Water Act and Water Ministerial Regulation of Alberta, including: Distance from existing and proposed buildings; To be confirmed by the contractor that the required setback for the proposed well is to be 15 meters from the treatment mound and 10 meters from any septic tank Proximity to surface water; and Distance away from existing and proposed on-site wastewater treatment installations. The contractor to ensure the construction of the well meets the requirements under the current version of the Alberta Water Regulation (Alberta Regulation 205/1998). In particular, the following shall be ensured: Integrity of surface well seal; and Evidence that only water from the production interval enters the well. Prior to mobilizing to site the contractor to arrange: Snow removal and all tree removal deemed necessary, All trees are to be removed prior to the start of the migratory bird nesting period Coordinating locates of any underground utilities through both Utility Safety Partners as well as private locating companies, Selecting appropriate drilling and completion methods and preparation of specifications for the drilling of the borehole(s), Coordinating with the client for approval of appropriate location for drilling the well or selecting alternative location convenient to the client for well access and operations, and, Providing technical support for the borehole drilling and identifying potential water bearing zones.
