Upgrades to increase Owner's water treatment plant capacity from 4.0 MGD to 8.0 MGD. Work shall include the following: removal and replacement of raw water pumps and controls; removal and replacement of ground water well pumps and controls; abandonment of existing well laterals and installation of new well laterals; new pre-sedimentation basins and pump stations; new air stripper installations; new flocculators and plate setting basins; existing filter building improvements; replacement of existing filter media; removal and replacement of distribution and backwash pumps; construction of four (4) new filters; expansion of existing clear well; new backwash decant tank; removal and replacement of existing decant tank sludge handling equipment; new sludge thickener basin; new sludge press; removal and replacement of existing clarifier equipment; repainting of existing water tank; and all other work indicated in the plans and specifications as necessary for a complete and functional installation. Bids shall be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond payable to Weirton Area Water Board in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the base bid. The Work will be substantially completed within 540 calendar days after the date when the Contract Times commence to run and completed and ready for final payment within 570 days after the date when the Contract Times commence to run. Liquidated damages shall be $1,000.00 per day.
