A former section of Highway 584, Main Street / Michael Power Boulevard runs from the intersection of Highway 11 northwards through the community of Geraldton, ON. The road is a major industrial travel route for forestry and mining related sectors. It is the original road for the settlement, around which the present downtown core was developed. The Geraldton Main Street project will be the first segment on the road network to the Ring of Fire. TIMELINE: An RFP for construction services was issued & closed in December 2025. Award is pending. The scope is to construct and complete the installation of approximately 4.5km of municipal sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain, complete with road reconstruction including asphalt pavement, rock excavation and granular base, and the replacement of the structural concrete culvert at Hardrock Creek on Main Street South, First Avenue North, and Third Street North. Owner intends to tender the project in phases. The Province has announced an investment of $61.8 million. Further update will be made upon award of contract.
