The Town of Guilford is seeking to engage an experienced professional engineering consulting firm to provide engineering services for the preparation of grant applications, design of construction documents and related basic services for the replacement of Bridge No. 04859, Clapboard Hill Road over the East River, Guilford, CT. Additional services may include survey, geotechnical engineering, hydraulic analysis, environmental analysis and preparation of environmental documents and permits and traffic engineering. Construction administrative and inspection services may also fall within the scope of work of the design engineer for the project. The bridge carries a two-lane major collector road over the East River with a span of 39'. This project is eligible for funding under the State Local Bridge Program and may also be eligible for funding under LOTCIP. Other funding sources will be considered as well. The Town of Guilford reserves the right to reject any or all Statements of Qualifications, or waive defects in same, if it deems such to be in the best interest of the Town of Guilford. The project is within an AE 9 flood zone with tidal wetlands and possibly inland wetlands within the project limits. Construction administrative and inspection services may also fall within the scope of work for the selected engineer for the project. The bridge carries a two-lane major collector road over the East River with a span of 39'. The 2022 AADT traffic volume for this section of road is 2800. The bridge is located in a section of Guilford listed on the National Register of Historic Places called Dudleytown Historic District. The scenic and historic character of the road and bridge will need to be included in the project. This project is eligible for funding under the State Local Bridge Program and may also be eligible for funding under LOTCIP.
