The Macedonia Parks and Recreation Department is embarking on building 3 new multipurpose fields in
Longwood Park North. The location has fields that either need renovated or reconstructed after many
years of wear. Our youth sports programs are exploding in participation numbers, and we have an
immediate need, so we want this project completed in the late Summer, early Fall of 2024. We had 2
fields done last year and hope to put those into use this Fall. Monday, April 15 - Bid to be awarded after Council meeting April 11. Reconstructing existing fields in area.
1. Each field will be built to the 360' x 150' dimensions.
2. Grade area to create 3 multipurpose fields utilizing existing space or, Contractor can
recommend alternative and renovate existing fields.
3. Create swale in between fields and alongside fields to allow appropriate drainage or
recommend different type of drainage more appropriate for area.
4. Grade, slope, and crown fields at 1.5% slope to allow proper drainage.
5. Prepare and screen soil for appropriate seeding.
6. Once space is prepared, seed, straw, and fertilize fields. If hydro-seed, turf blend.
