DESCRIPTION OF WORK (The Town's Standard Specifications and Details apply to the following): o Install 290 LF 12" DR 17 HDPE by horizontal directional drilling/trenchless method. Abandon existing pipe. o Install approximately 20 LF of 12" dual walled HDPE pipe by open trench method and remove existing pipe. o Install approximately 30 LF of 24" dual walled HDPE pipe by open trench method and remove existing pipe. o Remove existing lateral "tee" connection and replace it with a standard "wye" connection. o Replace two existing catch basins with new Jensen Pre-cast 2436 Curb Inlets: type B drop inlet with galvanized steel hood, frame and grate. o Assumptions: o Rocky subsurface conditions o Traffic Control: Full road closure on Southdown Road OR Black Mountain Road is acceptable, but not both at one time. One lane road closures acceptable anytime. All operations and traffic control must occur during regular business hours, M-F, 8am - 5pm unless otherwise approved by the Town. Roads must be fully open prior outside of business hours. An existing 12" storm drain pipe at 1450 Southdown Road has been found to be disjointed, offset, and filled with tree roots, causing localized flooding and ineffective conveyance of water. The pipe conveys stormwater from Southdown Road, through the backyard of 1450 Southdown Road property, to a catch basin on Black Mountain Road. The property is significantly sloped with several existing landscape improvements and mature trees over and near the pipe. The Town desires to replace the existing pipe in part with new 12" and 24" dual walled HDPE pipe by open trench method, and part with 12" DR 17 HDPE pipe by directional drilling/trenchless method. The existing pipe material varies but likely consists of concrete and clay. Each Bid shall be accompanied by cash, a certified or cashier's check, or Bid Bond secured from a surety company satisfactory to the Town, the amount of which shall not be less than ten percent (10%) of the submitted Total Bid Price, made payable to Town of Hillsborough as bid security. The bid security shall be provided as a guarantee that within five (5) working days after the Town provides the successful bidder the Notice of Award, the successful Bidder will enter into a Contract and provide the necessary bonds and certificates of insurance. The bid security will be declared forfeited if the successful Bidder fails to comply within said time. No interest will be paid on funds deposited with Town. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Faithful Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Price. Each bond shall be in the forms set forth herein, shall be secured from a surety company that meets all State of California bonding requirements, as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120, and that is a California admitted surety insurer. Town shall award the Contract for the Project to the lowest responsive, responsible Bidder as determined by the Town from the BASE BID ALONE. Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any irregularities or informalities in any bids or in the bidding process. Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 calendar days after the Bid opening date.
