Site work, paving and renovation of a mixed-use development in Austin, Texas. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a sidewalk / parking lot; for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; transportation facility; transportation facility; transportation facility; water / sewer project; and water / sewer project.

This project will build a new Concourse B to meet the passenger activity level demand for gate capacity. Terminal concourse to include 20 gates, boarding bridges, hold rooms, concessions, restrooms, clubs, apron support spaces, back of house, baggage makeup, tug and GSE spaces and other support spaces. This project supports the new gates at Concourse B by constructing apron, taxiway connectors, drainage, utilities, lighting and related airfield infrastructure to support the safe movement of aircraft on the airfield. This project may include aircraft parking spaces surrounding new midfield concourse to support 20 gates. Infrastructure for a hydrant system is an alternative scope to include if airline consortium agrees to include. This project will also design and construct a new Passenger and Utility Tunnel, and related infrastructure space for future Automated People Mover (APM), BHS equipment and utility/systems connections at the BJT and Concourse B, temporary ground loading options, and related scopes. Airport Principal Architect/Engineering is expected to provide preliminary estimates, project definition, hydrology and structural analysis, code/egress, connections, cross-section profile and conveyance configuration. The tunnel will be approximately 840 feet long, spanning the distance between the two Concourse facilities. Final design will be coordinated with the airlines, to ensure appropriate operational requirements are considered. The conveyance will include moving walkways in the first phase, and potentially the capability to add an automated people mover ride system on the long term, as needed. The selection process for this project is anticipated to be complete for City Council action in September 2024. Contract execution is anticipated for October 2024. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT: The primary objective of this project is to facilitate the continued growth of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and establish it as the preferred airport for Central Texas. This project is one major component of the AUS Airport Expansion and Development Program (AEDP) and will be designed and constructed while other components are underway as well. The Base Scope of work for this project is the new midfield "Concourse B" with 20 new airline gates and a new underground tunnel serving passengers, baggage and utilities. The tunnel will connect and integrate into the existing Barbara Jordan Terminal (BJT). Based on forecast demand and operational need, there is a potential option for a phased addition of 10 or more permanent gates. Depending on the AEDP schedule and other factors, an additional scope for the early design of a remote temporary hold room facility on-or-near the maintenance ramp serving multiple gates may be required by the selected team. By expanding gate capacity through the construction of a new concourse, the project aims to enable more direct domestic and international flights at the airport and improve overall operational efficiency. Moreover, the addition of gates and square footage will enhance the passenger experience aligning it with the "AUS Way" for a seamless and enjoyable airport experience. The project seeks to boost revenue through increased concessions, offering a diverse array of retail and dining options that cater to passenger preferences. These combined efforts will further position AUS as the leading airport in Central Texas, meeting the air service needs of the region, maintaining an excellent passenger experience, and providing flexible expansion options to accommodate dynamic airline growth. As of September 8, 2025, the project is currently under evaluation stage. A timeline to select a design firm has not been determined. A short-listed firms has been released. Further details regarding construction and completion timelines have not been identified.
