Site work and new construction of a day care center in Surrey, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 14,982-square-foot, one-story above grade day care center; for site work for a day care center; and day care center.

The purpose of the Project is: (a) To provide young children with consistent, quality, and inclusive child care. (b) To build capacity within KPU for placement opportunities to support academic programming in early childhood education and the health and social sciences. (c) To provide an opportunity to increase Indigenous programming in early childhood education to respond to the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The facility will provide 61 child care spaces in a one-story building which is proposed to be located on the KPU Surrey campus west of the existing Birch Building with access to/from 126th St. for pickup/drop off and staff parking. The breakdown of the 61 childcare spaces, includes: (a) 36 spaces for Group Child Care under 36 months of age (Infant/Toddlers) (b) 25 spaces for Group Child Care for over 36 months to school age (3 to 5-year olds) Key additional features of the Project include: (a) That the child care facility is anticipated to exceed the standard child care requirements established by the Fraser Health Authority towards providing more indoor and outdoor space per child. (b) That the project will perform as a net-zero building in terms of its greenhouse gas emissions. (c) That the building is intended to achieve a design that is consistent with LEED Gold and LEED certification is being contemplated. Documents can be obtained from https://kpu.bonfirehub.ca
