Ref. #: 24-107 The City of Alpharetta is requesting proposals from qualified consultants to develop a guiding principle for creative placemaking in the designated area of Brookside Park. The City has identified the area as a high priority for improvements to walkability as well as the existing city park. Brookside Park provides the potential for Greenway connections and access to the public lake. The gateway is envisioned to provide wayfinding signage and public art with the purpose of inspiring re-development efforts. We want the Brookside Park Gateway to be an identifying monument that brings attention to this mostly hidden amenity. Our main objectives are to develop an iconic gateway feature that reflects the identity of the Brookside community, fosters creative placemaking to enhance the overall aesthetic and City of Alpharetta RFP 24-107, Design Brookside Gateway Feature Scope of Work and Proposal Submission Page 3 of 10 functionality of the Brookside corridor and park, and to ensure the gateway feature serves as a focal point for residents and visitors. Brookside Park is approximately 30 acres and has road frontage at Old Milton Parkway near Brookside Parkway. The park is bordered along one side by Big Creek with the Big Creek Greenway directly on the opposite bank of the creek from Brookside Park. There is no access from Brookside Park to Big Creek Greenway. Appendix A of this document shows a map of this area.
