Such bids are to provide for the chip sealing of approximately 50000 square yards of city streets. The City will prepare the street prior to oiling. The seal coat shall consist of AE-150s, to be applied at the rate of .35 gallon per square yard at application temperature of 175 /225 degrees F. Application of the asphalt oil shall be immediately followed with a cover of 3/8 Type 2A crushed chips to be furnished by the contractor. The rock shall be uniformly distributed by means of a self propelled chip spreader at the rate of approximately 30 pounds per square yard. Any bleeding through of the oil after rolling shall be covered with enough additional rock or aggregate to absorb bleeding and then rolled until compacted. The completion date shall not be later than the 1st day of September 2024. Bidders shall furnish all equipment and labor. The bid should be marked Street Chip Seal Project. Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check, cashiers check, or draft for five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, such check to be certified or issued by either a State or National Bank, and payable to the City of Eureka, South Dakota, or in lieu thereof, a bid bond for ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, such bond to be issued by a surety authorized to do business in this State and payable to the City of Eureka. The check or bond will be retained by the City as liquidated damages if the successful bidder refuses or fails to enter into a contract and performance bond in accordance with the bid when notified. All bidders are required to hold all applicable South Dakota tax licenses. Bidder is required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond in an amount not less than the contract price, for the faithful performance of the contract.
