This project consists of furnishing and complete installation: By open trench method ofapprox. 6,690 feet of6-inch diameter, and 3,874 feet of8-inch diameter ductile iron water main pipe and appurtenances located in the right-of-way of 8600- 8700 Kedvale Ave, 8400-8700 Keeler Ave, 8400-8500 Kimball Ave, 8000-8300 Knox Ave, 9200-9500 Lawler Ave. with Water Main Improvements. Approximately 120 private lead water service replacements from the water main to the water meter located inside private house or building. Various off-site 6-inch diameter, 8-inch diameter, and 12-inch diameter gate valve replacements. Various off-site combined sewer point repairs (to be determined). BIDDER must be prepared to submit within five days of VILLAGE'S request written evidence, such as evidence of BIDDER'S qualification to do business in Illinois, financial data, previous experience, present commitments and other such data as listed below or herein. The Contractor must be pre-qualified for excavation, water main work and any other applicable work as required by the contract. Acceptable documentation of these minimum requirements must be submitted with the Bid Proposal. Bids from CONTRACTORS who do not meet these requirements will not be accepted. Bid Deposit: When required on the cover sheet, a bid deposit in the amount specified shall accompany all bids. Bid deposits shall be in the form of cash, a certified check or cashier's check drawn on a responsible bank doing business in the United States and shall be made payable to the Village of Skokie. All bids not accompanied by a bid deposit, when required, will be rejected. No bid bonds will be accepted unless otherwise indicated in the specification. Bid deposits of the two lowest bidders will be returned after the contract is awarded. Bid deposits of all others will be returned immediately. The bid deposit of the accepted bidder will be returned upon receipt by the Village of satisfactory performance bond where such bond is required or completion of contract. If the CONTRACTOR fails to complete the work by the specified completion date, he/she will be required to pay the Village $2,300 per calendar day for liquidated damages. Work will be permitted Monday through Friday. Saturday and night-time work will be permitted as needed and as approved by the ENGFNEER. The VILLAGE, reserves the right to defer the award of the contract for a period not to exceed sixty (60) calendar days after the date bids are received, and to accept or reject any or all proposals and to waive technicalities.
