Site work, paving and new construction of a fire / police facility in Nokomis, Florida. Completed plans call for site work for a fire / police facility; for paving for a fire / police facility; and for the construction of a fire / police facility.
As of July 2, 2024, the project design is complete, and all building permits are now submitted for review and approval. The Construction Managing firm Willis A. Smith is currently bidding the project components to subcontractors. Site construction is anticipated to start in September of this year with a project completion anticipated Summer of 2026. BLDG A - GROSS BUILDING AREA: FIRST FLOOR: 20,730 SF BLDG B - GROSS BUILDING AREA: FIRST FLOOR: 11,561 SF Summary: This project is a 35-acre development for a new Fire & EMS Training Academy for Sarasota County. Buildings to be constructed include: an Administration Building, Storage Buildings, Classroom Buildings, new Lift Station, and multiple Training Buildings. The work includes: site utilities, prefabricated metal buildings, concrete and masonry, concrete polishing, roofing, structural steel and steel fabrications, millwork, overhead doors, glass and glazing, metal framing and drywall, acoustical ceilings, flooring, painting, specialties and signage, folding partitions, fire training and prop equipment, controlled fire simulation systems, sprinkler systems, plumbing, HVAC, electric, fire alarm, fencing, and landscaping work. Project Schedule: Construction is anticipated to begin September of 2024 with final completion in summer of 2026. Pre-Bid Meeting: There is a Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting on Friday, April 5 @ 9:00AM at the job site. However, all subcontractors are required, prior to bidding, to become familiar with the project location and existing site conditions, as they pertain to your scope of work. Please see pre-bid meeting map in plan room. LEED Certification: This project will seek LEED Certified status. All bidders affected by LEED requirements shall comply with Sustainable Design Requirements specification 01 81 13, which incorporates Construction Waste Management requirements in specification 01 74 19.
