As evidence of good faith, each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond, bank draft or certified check and made payable to the Village of Western Springs, Illinois, in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500) or 10% of the bid price, whichever is greater, which shall be submitted to secure the Village against loss occasioned by failure of the bidder to abide by and comply with the terms of his bid The successful bidder shall be required to furnish payment and performance bonds in the full amount of the bid or proposal, at the time a contract is awarded, to the Village of Western Springs by a surety company authorized to do business in the State of Illinois and approved by the Village. Failure to produce acceptable bonds will constitute default and the bid bond will be forfeited. The Village Board reserves the right to reject any applicable bids for any reason, if it decides that such rejection is in the Village's interest, to reject any nonconforming bids, to waive any informalities in bidding, and to make award on that bid, which, in its opinion, is most advantageous to the Village. Scope of Services The Village seeks a firm to: o Supply materials, remove existing flooring and wall bases, prepare flooring for new install, install new flooring and wall bases, haul and dispose of removed flooring and wall bases, manipulation of furniture (including, but not limited to, file cabinets, desk workstations, and vending machines). The Village will be responsible for removing personal and electronic items, such as workstation computers and phones. Locations Flooring to be replaced within this service contract at Village Hall, 740 Hillgrove Avenue: o Municipal Services Department o Two (2) Police Department Administrative Offices o One (1) tiled hallway (Basement) o One (1) carpeted hallway (Basement) Scope of Work by Location 1. Municipal Services Department The Municipal Services Department work area includes 5 cubicles and 4 office spaces. The area approximately measures at 56 x 21' or ~1175 sq. ft. Work for this location will include: o Removing existing glued down carpet o Remove existing wall base o Applying the skim coat concrete prior to carpet tile installation o Installing vinyl wall base around perimeter o Installing vinyl transitions as needed o Installing silver metal tapdown at doorways as needed o Manipulating furniture before removal and after installation o Hauling and disposing of removed materials 2. Police Department Administrative Offices (2) The Police Department Administrative Offices includes two office spaces. Office one approximately measures at 14 x 20' or ~280 sq. ft. Office two approximately measures at 18 x 13' or ~235 sq ft. Work for this location will include: o Removing existing glued down carpet o Removing existing vinyl wall base o Applying the skimcoat on subfloor (to allow for a smooth flat surface to accept new floor coverings) o Installing new carpet tile o Seaming edges on field and border tile o Installing new rubber cove wall base o Manipulating furniture before removal and installation of new flooring o Hauling and disposing of removed materials 3. Tiled Hallway (Basement) The tiled hallway area approximately measures at 59 x 7' or ~ 415 sq. ft. Work for this location will include: o Removing existing VCT tile o Removing existing vinyl wall base o Applying two (2) coast of moisture barrier primer over existing flooring o Applying one (1) coat of special primer (to create a bond prior to applying the double skim coat) o Applying double skim coat o Installing new LVT tile o Installing new rubber wall base o Hauling and disposing of removed materials 4. Carpeted Hallway (Basement) The carpeted hallway area approximately measures at 65 x 4' or ~260 sq. ft. Work for this location will include: o Removing existing carpet o Removing existing vinyl wall base o Installing new LVT tile o Applying single skim coat (to allow subfloor to accept new floor coverings) o Installing new wall base These specifications are not to be construed as exclusive. It is intended that the services provided by the Contractor include all functions normally considered a part of workmanlike, satisfactory work, whether or not specifically listed herein
