Burlington Avenue Water Main and Streetscape Improvements Description of Work. The proposed construction consists of installing approximately 90 lineal feet of 6-inch and 925 lineal feet of 8-inch water main, including new hydrants, valves, and other miscellaneous items of work. The contract will include all work necessary to install the water main, install water service lines via open cut methods, reconnect existing water service lines, restore the roadway, and perform all pavement patching and sidewalk restoration. The proposed construction also consists of electrical improvements, including new electrical infrastructure for the streetlighting and planter beds, and streetscape improvements, including bump-out and crosswalk installation, tree removal, and installation of approximately 70 lineal feet of 8-inch and 10-inch storm sewer, including new catch basins and inlets Not less than the prevailing rate of wages as determined by the Department of Labor or determined by the court on review shall be paid to all laborers, workmen and mechanics performing work under this contract. The Village of Western Springs is exempt from the Illinois State, municipal or county Retailers Occupation Tax, Service Occupation Tax, Use Tax, and Service Use Tax as described in Illinois Compiled Statute Chapter 35. Bid prices shall not include the cost of such taxes. All Bids must be accompanied by a Bidder's bond, certified check, bank cashier's check or bank draft payable to the Village of Western Springs for ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the Bid as provided in the Bidder Instructions Rejection of Bids. The Board of Trustees reserves the right to reject any or all Bids and to waive technicalities. Unless the Bids are rejected for good cause, award of contract shall be made to the lowest responsible and responsive Bidder.
