As of March 4, 2025, this project is included in Mecklenburg County's Fiscal Year 2025-2030 CIP. Further information regarding a design firm and timeline for construction has not yet been established, but funding is allotted for FY 2025 and 2026. Program requires minimum of two acres of relatively level earth on which to drive heavy vehicles in order to "plant" utility poles and teach students to access, string lines on the poles, guard against falls and injury, and employ industry standards of safety protocol. An approximately 11,000 square foot lab building to include a classroom, offices, group toilets, secure equipment storage and open air storage for several utility trucks. Architecture and Engineering Design Teams are needed to provide Design Services for a proposed Line Worker Training Facility at the CPCC Harper Campus. Harper Campus Line Worker Training Facility: a. Building(s) to house program spaces including, but not limited to, classrooms, faculty offices, toilets, equipment and materials storage. b. Site development to include "pole yard" for student training, truck maneuvering and driver training pad, parking for "bucket" trucks and trailers. c.
