As of March 6, 2026, construction was completed in 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The objective of this Sources Sought is to identify potential subcontracting companies that are qualified and capable of meeting the project objectives. See details in attachment. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a national laboratory owned by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to research, development, commercialization, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL is managed and operated for DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy by The Alliance for Sustainable Energy (Alliance), the "M&O Contractor". Project Background: The Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) is a National Laboratory research facility focused on energy systems research, development, and demonstration. New energy systems technologies are evaluated using state-of-the-art equipment and resources. Specific to this project, NREL Research Programs is establishing capabilities for HVAC codes and standards research. The ESIF OCL laboratory (C221) has been selected to house these capabilities. There is currently other research equipment in the proposed location of the proposed HVAC chambers, as the OCL is a highly utilized laboratory for electric vehicles and buildings research. Objective: The objective of this Sources Sought is to identify potential subcontracting companies that are qualified and capable of meeting the project objectives. Please prepare and submit a Capabilities Statement, no longer than 3 pages, related to the Project Details below. The project objective, at a high level, is to provide construction services to reconfigure the high bay OCL laboratory to accommodate stacked research environmental chambers, a calorimeter chamber and ancillary equipment. Project Details: In the event a solicitation is released, NREL is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a solution that meets or exceeds the following minimum capabilities in accomplishing the objective above. Scope includes modification of existing and installation of new; mechanical, electrical and process piping resources, alterations to the building exterior for new high bay access The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time *This project has been updated for historical data and reference purposes.
