2024 Energy Services Construction Services The Contractor shall install natural gas pipelines, electric distribution lines and fiber optic cables per Engineering plans and specifications; perform maintenance tasks on natural gas pipelines, electric distribution lines, fiber optic cables and associated equipment within the City of Monroe's utility infrastructure; perform other assigned duties supporting the City of Monroe and the General Public. Projects will include relocation, system improvement, expansion, remediation and replacement, etc. - The City of Monroe Energy Services is seeking a qualified contractor to provide construction services for City owned natural gas and electric facilities. The schedule for bid evaluation and approval is as follows: May 20, 2024 - evaluations are complete and recommendation for selected contractor is made. June 4, 2024 - Energy Services will provide the recommended contractor to the Public Enterprise Committee for approval. June 11, 2024 - Pending the approval of the Public Enterprise Committee, Energy Services will provide the recommend contractor and contract for approval to City Council. July 1, 2024 - Proposed start date for contractor pending approval(s). All bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days pending Council approval and awarding of contract(s). The City of Monroe reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and waive any formalities as may be permitted by law. Award will be made based on the lowest responsible bidder. The electric system is primarily located within the City limits, while the natural gas system is spread throughout Union County. The City of Monroe has an electric 100 kV transmission loop, while serving distribution voltages of 34.5 kV and 13.2 kV to our approximately 12,500 customers. The City of Monroe Energy Services operates a natural gas system for the residents of Union County. The City of Monroe is the only municipal gas transmission operator in North Carolina and the second municipal LNG operator in North Carolina. The distribution system serves the citizens of Monroe as well as the Towns of Unionville, Mineral Springs, Wingate, and Marshville with a total of approximately 13,500 gas customers.
