The scope of this project includes, but is not limited to, the following: Site work and new construction of an educational facility. As of January 8, 2025, a general contractor has been selected for this project. A firm construction timeline for this project has not yet been released. Takt Planning Questions due to Procurement & Strategic Sourcing - May 8, 2024 - 12 Noon developing a new health sciences and cancer research building which will support the WSU School of Medicine and KCI with the creation of world class academic, research, and community engagement spaces. A. The Building The new building will highlight the strong relationship between Wayne State University and the Karmanos Cancer Institute, two institutions committed to the advancement of research and academic excellence in health sciences and comprehensive cancer research, hereafter referred to as the Health Sciences Building. WSU and KCI are global leaders in their respective disciplines and this new facility will allow for continued emphasis on the impacts of public health disparities in urban environments and complex cancer research. The building will provide state-of-the-art space to support academic, research, and community engagement functions integrated in a programmatic and physical space for interdisciplinary and interprofessional opportunities in the heart of Detroit. B. General Program Guidance Academic Spaces At the heart of Wayne State's mission is an emphasis on preparing a diverse student body to thrive and positively impact local and global communities.
