As of September 10, 2024, a design firm has been selected for the project and is in the schematic design. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the Renovate North Campus Chemical Storage Building project at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York The North Campus Chemical Storage Building, constructed in 1995, is a 6,341 GSF, one-story slab-on-grade masonry building used for storage and disposal of hazardous chemicals. The building has not undergone comprehensive renovations since its construction. The purpose of this project is to modernize the facility and bring its fire suppression and other safety systems up to current standards. The space use program for this building is expected to remain the same. The Project will renovate office, locker, washroom, utility, and chemical handling areas, and refurbish the building envelope. Renovations include replacement of heating ventilating & air conditioning systems, fume hoods, specialty ventilation equipment, fire protection systems, interior finishes, roofs, windows, and doors, and explosion blow-out panels. Exterior metal panel wall cladding will be refurbished. The project also replaces specialty fire suppression systems for chemical handling areas. The Project includes the removal of hazardous materials and will provide upgrades to meet current code and ADA requirements. The construction value is estimated at approximately $5,727,000.
