Site work for a road / highway in Palm Bay, Florida. Working plans call for site work for a road / highway.

The construction project is the installation of a new span wire traffic signal on Malabar Road at St. Johns Heritage Parkway (SJHP) intersection. The intersection is located within the Brevard County Right of Way with the City of Palm Bay leading the construction administration and inspection. Per Brevard County Right of Way permit number 022RW01102, the County shall be included in the pre-construction, inspections, and any progress meetings. The project will also include the following intersection improvements: Installation of span-wire traffic signal Installation of westbound right turn lane extension Concrete sidewalks and ADA ramps Pedestrian Crosswalks Street lighting Minor drainage improvements Metal bean guard rail (MBGR) Milling and paving Signing and striping The design plans are in accordance with the latest FDOT Standard Plans. The contractor shall provide all new signal equipment including, new stain poles, signal heads, span wire, cabinet, controller, and wiring. Reuse of any existing equipment shall not be allowed. The concrete pole shall be per 2023 FDOT Structures Manual Volume 3, Section 3.8.2 which states for the 300 Year Extreme Event Limit State, use the wind speed (MHP) as shown in FDOT SD6 Table 2.4.1 minus 10 MHP, therefor the design wind speed shall be 100 MPH for Brevard County. The contractor shall submit signalization shop drawings to Brevard County Public Works Department in addition to the City of Palm Bay for review and approval. Any design modifications or changes shall only be approved by the Engineer of Record (EOR), Frank Watanabe In addition, attached to the bid documents is the construction design plans with a sheet with summary of bid quantity items. The City is leading agency for the procurement, so any technical questions shall be submitted to the City of Palm Bay procurement department which will be reviewed by the Engineer of Record and responses provided back through the addendum process. While not intended to be an all-inclusive list, work generally includes the following items: Mobilization, erosion control, testing of all items per FDOT requirements and bid specification, subbase and base materials, drainage improvements, install MBGR, street lighting, traffic signal, pavement milling, pavement resurfacing, hauling material not used to disposal site, grading for the turn lane, shoulder restoration, crown slope correction, leveling asphalt layer, temporary and final striping installation, sodding, utility coordination/adjustment, maintenance of traffic plan preparation/submittal/approval and coordination with County and City staff and maintenance of traffic notification. All MOT plans shall be signed and sealed by a Florida Professional Engineer. All materials to be furnished on the project shall be FDOT approved materials or from an approved FDOT mine. The selected contractor shall provide all material and shop submittals for review and approval to the County/City as part of the construction. Maintenance of Traffic: The terms Traffic Control Plan (T.C.P.) and Maintenance of Traffic Plan (M.O.T.) are intended to be synonymous. The term Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T.) is the function presented in the T.C.P. The Contractor shall provide, install, and maintain traffic devices for any assigned work according to the FDOT. Design Standards Index 600 series, latest edition, and applicable laws and ordinances. The traffic control shall provide a safe work zone and safe flow of traffic in and through the project site. Depending on the project complexity, the City may require the Contractor submit an M.O.T. plan showing all phases of construction in advance for approval. The Contractor shall have a designated Worksite Traffic Supervisor who shall be adequately certified per FDOT requirements, and responsible for initiating, installing, and maintaining all temporary traffic control devices. When needed, the Contractor shall provide dedicated flaggers, adequately certified per FDOT requirements. The Contractor shall provide the City with the name and contact information of the Worksite Traffic Supervisor prior to beginning any project and should be able to provide evidence of the M.O.T. personnel certification upon request.
