The project will environmentally clear, complete final design, and construct the Caltrain grade separated crossing at Mary Avenue. This work will be based on the final City Council direction on the Feasibility Study, completed in 2022 (RTC 22-0041, CIP 832330, Study Issue DPW 14-13). The project will lower Mary Avenue underneath Evelyn Avenue and the Caltrain railroad tracks. A "jughandle" roadway will be constructed to connect Mary Avenue and Evelyn Avenue. Improvements for active transportation modes through the project area will be incorporated. This project is included in the City of Sunnyvale's FY 2024-2043 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Per the City, as of July 18, 2024, they have not yet started the environmental clearance phase for the Mary Avenue Caltrain Grade Separation project, so they are still a few years away from hiring a design team and advertising for construction. The city states that Caltrain will be the implementing agency, so all RFP's and advertisements will be coming from Caltrain and not the City. The City states that they are thinking that construction would be advertised in or after 2028 at the earliest. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
