The work shall generally consist of: The reconstruction of E. Popular Street from N. Main St. to N. Walnut St.; major items of work include earth excavation, subbase granular material type b 4", PCC pavement 8" (Jointed), pavement removal, class C patching, water main, water valves, fire hydrants, water service connections, ductile iron fittings, traffic control and protection and other related work. Bond Notes: A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of the City of Taylorville, Illinois or a satisfactory bid bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable Surety in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total Bid shall be submitted with each Bid. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as required by the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act and by the Contract documents must be paid on this Project, and that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their of race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or physical or mental handicap, and that certain other requirements do apply since the Contract if awarded will be by a public governmental entity. Owner Rights : The City of Taylorville Illinois reserves the right to reject any or all bids, any or all bid tems, and to waive an and all irregularities or informalities in the bids and/or bidding process and/or in the award of bids. An award of bid, if made, shall be made to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. Bids may be held by the City of Taylorville for a period of 45 days from the date of the opening of Bids for the purpose of reviewing the Bids and investigating the qualifications of Bidders, prior to awarding of the Contract.
