Renovation of a medical facility in Washington, District of Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is seeking contractors with a minimum of ten (10) years specialized experience with the design and installation of roof glazing replacement for greenhouses. This sources sought synopsis is issued solely for information and planning purposes to gain knowledge of potential sources capable of fully satisfying a potential requirement. This is not a solicitation announcement, nor does it promise a solicitation in the future. Quotes are not being requested or accepted at this time and a contract will not be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement. All submissions will become Government property and will not be returned. The government will not provide any feedback or evaluations regarding the information submitted. The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is seeking contractors with a minimum of ten (10) years specialized experience with the design and installation of roof glazing replacement for greenhouses. The objective of this project is to replace portions of the existing roof glazing system in the U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory, Garden Court Glasshouse. The glass roof is approximately 180 feet long and 45 feet wide and rises to 50 feet tall at its ridge. The new glazing system will be designed and installed to replace approximately one third of the current deteriorating system and properly control the amount of sunlight passing through the Garden House glazed roof in order for the plants to continue thriving in their artificial habitat. The contractor shall have the capability and experience to remove the existing system, design, fabricate, install, and deliver on a turn-key basis, a new tempered glazing system. Documentation shall include developing a project manual that contains material specifications, pre-installation, shop drawings, or other efforts (i.e., Safety Plan, QC/QA Plan, etc.) necessary to complete the replacement of the glass roof of the garden court greenhouse. The Safety Plan shall include the design, fabrication, and use of a custom ladder/shelf system to maximize a safe working environment. The glazing system installation will include demolition of the existing roof glazing, scraping the existing glazing bars, furnishing, and installing new glazing including new glazing compounds and bar caps. Providing engineered designed approved scaffolding if needed, staging area and all needed equipment to complete the installation, is also included. Plans, specifications, and all supporting documents shall be fully approved by registered architect/designer and all governmental permits secured by the designer/contractor. The location of the work is in the United States Botanic Garden Conservatory, Washington D.C. The magnitude of work for this project is between $750,000.00 and $1,500,000.00. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) Codes applicable to this acquisition is 238150, Glass and Glazing Contractors and 236220 - Commercial & Institutional Building Construction. Prior Government contract work is not required for submitting a response under this sources sought notice. Responses to this Synopsis shall be limited to 5-pages (11 point minimum, Times New Roman font) and shall include the following information: Contractor's name, address, point of contact, phone number, e-mail address, and capability to perform a contract of this magnitude and complexity, and sufficient information to demonstrate the ability to fulfill the requirement. The submission shall include a description of a minimum of three projects completed within the past ten years similar to the work identified above. Standard brochures will not be considered a sufficient response to this notice. Interested contractors should submit an electronic copy of the requested information via e-mail to the Contracting Officer, Desmond Scott, at Desmond.Scott@aoc.gov no later than May 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM EST. Any attempt to hand deliver or mail a response to any location in the U.S Capitol Complex will be rejected. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
