Installation of Power Plant Cathodic Protection System for Natural Gas Pipelines Natural Gas is delivered to the site via a 10” pipeline that terminates at the southeast corner of the facility. The gas turbine units are then connected to the main terminal through multiple high-pressure (300-600 psi) underground steel pipelines within the facility. The City also has ammonia piping on-site. The City is seeking proposals to provide installation services for a cathodic protection (CP) system to protect three sections of underground steel pipe at the power plant site and a section of ammonia piping. This work is routine maintenance to preserve and extend the life of existing assets and shall not add capacity or change operations.3 The City is neither an expert nor claims expertise in pipeline cathodic protection. It is assumed that the Consultant and/or Contractors will apply sound engineering principles, apply adequate and proven safety margins, comply with Federal, State, and Local Laws, and follow all relevant industry codes and standards to install a CP system per the provided design that will adequately protect the pipelines mentioned above.
