** As of July 23, 2024 this project has been awarded to Woodruff Construction, Inc. with an awarded amount of $583,388.77.** The purpose of this study was to explore the subsurface conditions at the site to prepare recommendations for the splash pad for the proposed construction. Our scope of services included drilling three soil test borings to depths of 10 feet below the existing grade in the splash pad area. The scope of work also included select laboratory testing and preparation of this geotechnical report. This report briefly outlines the testing procedures, presents available project information, describes the site and subsurface conditions, and presents recommendations regarding the following: Suitability of site for the construction of the proposed project Site preparation and grading procedures for project Provide recommendations for splash pad subgrade preparation Comments regarding factors that will impact construction and performance of the proposed construction. The scope of services did not include an environmental assessment of the site. Construction of splash pad in Soper Park within the City of Emmetsburg, IA. Work on the improvement shall commence upon approval of the contract by the Council and as stated in the Notice to Proceed. All work under the contract must be substantially complete on or before November 29, 2024. Liquidated damages are as set forth in Section 00500 - Contract. Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security, as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful Bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon. The Bidder's security shall be in an amount equal to 5 percent of the total amount of the bid. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. If the Bidder fails to execute the contract and to furnish an acceptable Performance, Payment, and Maintenance Bond or provide a Certificate of Insurance within ten (10) days after acceptance of the bid by the City, the bid security may be forfeited or cashed by the City as liquidated damages. The City of Emmetsburg Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities or technicalities in any bid, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be to in the best interest of the City of Emmetsburg.
