Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Lawrence, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The work to be done under this contract includes: Resurfacing N. 2nd Street/N. 3rd Street (UPRR to the North City Limits), Storm Sewer Curb Inlet Replacements, Pedestrian Traffic Signal Improvements (N. 2nd St & Lyons St). The Project includes, but is not limited to the following approximate quantities of Work: 39,980 S.Y. of Milling, 5,597 Tons of Asphalt Surface Course, 4,781 L.F. of Concrete Curb & Gutter, 1,265 S.Y. of Concrete Pavement, 9 Storm Structure Replacements/Modifications, 245 S.Y. of Conc. Sidewalk & Ramps, Pedestrian Traffic Signal Improvements & Adjustments and 19,026 L.F. of Pavement Marking (various widths & colors). All questions and clarifications regarding this bid should be submitted only via email and directed to the City's purchasing department at purchasing@lawrenceks.org. The bid number shall be referenced in the email subject line. The questions deadline is June 6, 2024 - 5:00 pm Central Time Zone. All questions will receive an official written response from the City and will become addenda to this Bid. A Pre-bid meeting will not be held for this Project. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond no less than 5% of the amount of the bid made payable to the City of Lawrence, retained by the City Commission until a contract for the project shall have been awarded. Checks will be returned to the unsuccessful bidders when their bids are rejected. BONDS. Each Contractor, to whom work is awarded, will be required to furnish a performance bond to the City of Lawrence, Kansas, Owner, in an amount equal to 100 percent of the amount of the contract awarded in each case. In addition, each Contractor shall furnish also a Statutory Bond to the State of Kansas, as required by Statute, to guarantee the payment of all labor and material bills. The City Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive informalities. These modifications to the Instructions to Bidders amend or supplement the Instruction to Bidders, IB-1 to IB-6, of this Project Manual, as listed below. All provisions, which are not so amended or supplemented, shall remain in full force and effect. The following conditions are general in scope and may contain requirements covering conditions which will not be encountered in the performance of the work under contract and which for this reason are not applicable thereto. Where any stipulation or requirement set forth herein applies to any such non-existing conditions, and is not applicable to the work under contract, such stipulation, or requirement will have no meaning relative to the performance of said work. The Project generally includes asphalt milling, pavement patching and overlay on N. 2 nd Street/N. 3 rd Street (US-40/59) from the UPRR Bridge to the North City Limits, along with Storm Sewer Curb Inlet replacements and Pedestrian Traffic Signal Improvements. Additional work includes concrete pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks and curb ramps, manhole and valve adjustments, pedestrian traffic signal adjustments and pavement markings. Alternative Materials, Processes and Equipment: The provisions of these Specifications are not intended to prevent the installation of any material or to prohibit any construction process or equipment not specifically prescribed by these Specifications. Alternative materials, processes or equipment may be approved provided the material or work offered is, for the purpose intended, at least the equivalent in quality, strength, effectiveness, durability and safety to that prescribed by these Specifications as determined by the Department of Municipal Services & Operations. All deviations must be approved in writing by the Engineer. Specific sections of the Kansas Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for State Road and Bridge Construction ("KDOT Standards") are referenced throughout. These specific sections are hereby made a part of these specifications.
