INDOT - Call 420 - Bridge Replacement - Rochester Road Waterbody: Elkhart River County: Noble Project Description Narrative: The project (INDOT Des. No. 1902840) includes replacement of the existing 86' long by 24' wide by 10' tall single span concrete box beam bridge with a new 97.5' long by 31.25' wide by 13' tall single span concrete bulb-T beam bridge and placement of revetment riprap on both banks of the river channel for scour protection. Total cumulative permanent impacts to the floodway include 0.142 acres for the placement of 336.3 cubic yards (CYD) of revetment riprap scour protection. Total cumulative temporary impacts within the floodway of include 0.015 acres for placement of 98.3 CYD of sandbag cofferdams. Temporary impacts are anticipated to be in place for 90 days. Temporary impacts within the floodway will be restored to preconstruction contours and stabilized with INDOT seed mix Floodplain and mulch. Temporary impacts to the Elkhart River streambed will be restored with native cobble, gravel, sand and silt substrate. Floodway tree clearing is anticipated for this project. Mitigation for the tree clearing will require the purchase of 0.031 acre of nonwetland forested floodway habitat through the Indiana In-Lieu Fee Program at a 1:1 impact to mitigation ratio.
