The work to accomplish the mainline sewers described as "8th Avenue South Sewer Extension" will include all work for the 8-inch sewer mainline pipe as shown on the plans including all work shown within 7th Place South. The intent is to award the project to the low bidder. This project is primarily financed by King County Public Health Equitable Wastewater Futures. 8th Avenue South Sewer Extension Description This includes about 1,400 LF of 6-inch & 8-inch sewer mainline pipe, about 450 LF of 6-inch sewer pipe stubs pipe, ten (10) each 8-inch x 6-inch tee and/or wye connections for the 6-inch pipe stub pipe which will. extend from the 8-inch mainline pipe to right of way/property line, ten (10) each manholes (MH) with the Predl fiberglass MH base at each MH base, clearing and demolition, possible new storm drain (SD) pipe, and restoration, The Raven epoxy coating at each MH base can be substituted for the Predl only if the Predl is not available. The contractor shall support and shore the existing 12-inch storm drainpipe located at the beginning of the project near the existing cleanout where the new sewer mainline will connect. However, if the existing SD line conflicts with installation of the new sewer mainline, then it will be replaced. We have included a bid item for the SD replacement. All of this work will be typical open cut type of construction. Due to the close proximity of the new sewer mainline to the existing Seattle City Light poles, six poles will need to be supported during construction. Details are included for a static temporary support system. The mainline sewer pipe will cross the existing SPU 48-inch water mam in one location. Special care and monitoring of the existing 48-inch water main will be needed. Temporary support details and notes are included. At this crossing the Contractor will also protect, shore, and support the existing 36-inch storm drainpipe. The Engineer's estimate for this work is: $800,000 before Sales Tax. The contractors shall provide a Bid Proposal Guaranty Bond included with the Bid Submittal. The contractor chosen for the work will submit a Performance Bond with the signed Agreement, see Section 102 for more information.
