Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Lamar, Missouri. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 1,165-square-foot swimming pool; and for site work for a 8,284-square-foot swimming pool.
The City of Lamar Missouri is seeking a qualified Pool Design/Engineering Firm to plan and manage a project for the renovation of the existing Aquatic Center located at the Lamar City Park, 1901 Walnut. Historical Data The Aquatic Center originally opened in 1996 and consists of three pool structures and a bathhouse. The indoor lap pool is 1165 s.f. covered by a 34'x106' Kalwall Skylight. The pool operates independently on a segregated treatment and piping system. The outdoor Leisure pool is 5054 s.f. it has zero entry points, water features and a slide. The outdoor lap pool is 3230 s.f and consists of six swim lanes. The two outdoor pools share some lines and treatment through the pumphouse and balance tank. The bathhouse contains a men's and women's locker and shower rooms, reception area, guard offices, concession stand, and filter/treatment room. The facility has been closed since March of 2022 due to catastrophic concerns, primarily with the leisure pool. The leisure pool was losing massive amounts of water. The outdoor lap pool was also leaking along the southwest corner. In 2016 a French drain was installed to help the saturated hillside south of the pool. The leisure pool was closed in 2018 while some below grade piping was repaired and re-opened in 2020. At the time of the facility closing in 2022 the indoor pool was also losing water at a rate of 3-4" per day. In the summer of 2021, an evaluation was conducted by Waters Edge Aquatic Design that outlined some issues. Project Scope The City of Lamar is seeking qualifications from qualified firms to include, but not limited to removal of the leisure pool and bringing the outdoor and indoor lap pools back into operational status. Likely repairs may include repairing pool structures, removing lights in the pools, repairing below grade piping, altering and replacing any filtration, treatment, and electrical controls and components. The work will also include updates to the bath house to address structural issues, updating to modern code compliance and regulations, plumbing, air conditioning/heating, painting, and repairs to the locker rooms. The scope of work would also include the Natatorium, removal of the panels from the skylight and side walls. Evaluation would need to be conducted to evaluate the integrity of the natatorium structure and considerations of a screening material reapplied. The city will select the most qualified respondent.
