Contract 4 consists of the installation of 70 linear feet of 12î steel casing and 40 linear feet of 8î steel casing, installed through the bore and jack method. The Contractor shall furnish the casing pipe and complete the bore and jack casing installations as shown on the plans. This contract shall be completed within 120 calendar days after the date of authorization to start work. Liquidated damages will be assessed at $800 per calendar day. Each Bidder of Contract 4 must accompany his/her bid with a Bid Bond in amount of not less than five (5) percent of the base bid. No Bidder may withdraw his/her bid for a period of 90 days. The Bidder awarded Contract 4 shall execute a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond and shall furnish insurance as required, in the General Conditions. Any bid that is obviously unbalanced may be rejected. The Water District reserves the right to reject all bids and waive informalities. Bidders must have experience with similar types of projects. The Water District reserves the right to request a list of references. 1 All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents are to be submitted to Engineer in writing. Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by Engineer in response to such questions will be issued by Addenda mailed or delivered to all parties recorded by Engineer as having received the Bidding Documents. Questions received less than five days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered. Only questions answered by Addenda will be binding. Oral and other interpretations or clarifications will be without legal effect.
