The Town of Nantucket, through its Town Administration, invites qualified bidders to submit bids for On-Call Tree Trimming and Removal Services. The Contractor will have the ability to provide labor, equipment, permits, and required supervision necessary or required to safely and efficiently complete assigned tree trimming, or removal projects as directed by the Director of Public Works. The work to be performed will be on a scheduled basis or emergency nature in accordance with the needs of the Town of Nantucket, Nantucket County, and the Nantucket Land Bank. This contract is for on-call tree trimming services for the Town of Nantucket, Nantucket County, and the Nantucket Land Bank. The services will be at the discretion of the respective Department Heads based on the availability of funding and other priorities. The Town of Nantucket is located 30 miles off the south coast of Cape Cod. It was settled in 1659 and incorporated in 1671. The Town has an annual year-round population of over 14,000 and approximately 60,000 seasonal residents. The island is 14 miles in length and 3 1/2 miles wide. The Town of Nantucket is within the County of Nantucket. It operates an operated skilled nursing facility, an extensive Public School System and other municipal operations. The Town functions under a Town Manager/Select Board form of government. The Select Board operates under a Charter and enacts policies intended to promote and enhance the general welfare of the Town. Description of Services: The Contractor shall furnish adequate labor crew, all equipment, and tools necessary or required to safely and efficiently complete assigned tree trimming, or removal projects as directed by the Department of Public Works, must be on hand and in good working condition before the work is to begin. The Contractor must designate an individual as the crew supervisor who shall be responsible for the crew's activities to accomplish the assigned work. Should the supervisor be unsatisfactory or non-responsive in the determination of the Director of Public Works, or their designee. the Town may request that another responsible party be designated, and this request will be granted. The Contractor shall perform all work in accordance with the latest government safety regulations, including but not limited to, all MA Department of Labor and Workforce performance & Federal OSHA regulations and suggested practices. All work shall be performed in accordance with ANSI Z 133.1 "Pruning, Trimming, Repairing, Maintaining and Removing Trees and Cutting Brush Safety Requirements" with special emphasis given to the requirement that only qualified line-clearing trimmers be assigned to work where a potential electrical hazard exists. This successful bidder shall perform services as necessary from July 2024 through June 2025. This is intended to be a one (1) year contract. Question Response Deadline: June 13, 2024, 2:00pm Award will be made within thirty (30) calendar days after bid opening unless otherwise stated in the specifications or the time for award is extended by mutual consent of all parties. All bids submitted shall be valid for a minimum period of sixty (60) calendar days following the date established for acceptance. Bidders must submit a bid deposit of five percent (5%) of the amount of the total base bid. Bid deposit may be in the form of a certified check; a bank, treasurers or cashier's check; or a bid bond from a surety company. The successful bidder must furnish a Payment Bond in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the Contract Price with a surety company acceptable to the Town of Nantucket. The Town of Nantucket reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality in bids received whenever such rejection or waiver is in its best interest.
