Site work, paving, outdoor lighting and renovation of a mixed-use development in Carson, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a clubhouse / community center; for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; swimming pool; playground / park / athletic field; for outdoor lighting for a playground / park / athletic field; and fitness / recreation center.
Foisia Park (formerly known as Scott Park) is approximately 12 acres (512,000 sqft) with fairly flat terrain, and is located towards the southerly area of Carson, surrounded by single family dwellings. The park has two parking lots, swimming pool, outdoor tennis courts and basketball courts and 3 baseball fields, a community center and a gymnasium, with a fairly flat terrain. The irrigation system has exceeded its life expectancy and will be renovated in its entirety. Majority of the turf areas will remain with a few locations to be improved. The primary objective of the project is the construction of a Polynesian themed stage approximately 1,000 sq.ft. as tribute to the Foisia Family. The stage will be supplemented with synthetic turf for the spectators surrounded by picnic tables and bbq areas covered with shade sails. The project will also involve several upgrades to the existing amenities and renovation of the outdoor lighting system to improve its safety as well renovating its irrigation system to support the condition of the natural turf areas. Aside from its current outdoor activity areas such as picnic areas, tennis courts, basketball courts, swimming pool and baseball fields, new outdoor fitness equipment will be installed at three (3) locations. The only current activity areas that will be renovated are the 3 baseball fields. The baseball fields will have improved (higher) fencing to control erratic ball movements during baseball/softball games. The renovated baseball fields will also include shades for dugouts and bleacher stands. The current playground area will be replaced with rubberized surface and playground equipment will be replaced with age-appropriate features. The other auxiliary items involve, upgrades of the park marquee to a digital form; coldmill overlay of the easterly parking lot, conversion of unused driveways to typical curb/gutter/sidewalk and installation of two (2) additional picnic shelters.
