PLEASE NOTE: BID OPENING WILL BE AT DGR ENGINEERING NOT THE MUNICIPAL OFFICES For furnishing of all work and materials for consideration of the project: Rock Rapids Municipal Utility Substation & Generator Building, Bid Package #1. Construction Documents and Project Manual describe general construction of the building addition for power generation at 310 South 3rd Avenue located in the City of Rock Rapids. The work includes, but is not limited to, general construction of the building addition for power generation, including concrete footings and foundations, concrete floor slab, structural steel framed building with metal wall and roof panels, insulation, and other work as shown on the drawings. There is urgency in this project to enclose new electric switchgear over the existing building foundation. The switchgear will need to be enclosed in the first six weeks of the project to allow for the transition from temporary to permanent switchgear before proceeding with the remainder of the construction. Construction work for the project is shown on the drawings and defined in the Project Manual as prepared by Oleson + Hobbie Architects LLC of Mankato, MN. All general contract bidders and subcontractors are invited. Representatives of the design team and Owner will be in attendance. Summarized minutes of the meeting will be circulated to attendees. Information relevant to the Bid Documents will be recorded in an addendum, issued to Bid Document recipients. WORK ON THIS PROJECT TO BE COMPLETED BY: JANUARY 15, 2025. Bids must be on the basis of cash payment for the work and materials, and no bid will be considered unless sealed and filed with the municipal utility and accompanied by a cash deposit, certified check, or bidder's bond, payable to Rock Rapids Municipal Utility, for not less than 5% of the bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will, within ten (10) days after notification of the award of contract, enter into an agreement with the City and furnish a bond for the full amount of the contract as provided for by law. This deposit will be subject to forfeiture as provided by law. Cash deposits, certified checks, and bidder's bonds of the three (3) lowest bidders may be retained until the contract has been awarded and executed, but no longer than 60 days from the date of opening bids. All other deposits will be refunded promptly. The Rock Rapids Municipal Utility reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any informalities therein; and to adjourn the meeting to a later date for the purpose of further consideration of the bids and taking action thereon. No bid may be withdrawn within 60 days from the date of opening of bids. The Municipal Utility Board will consider award of contract at their regular meeting held on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
