Renovation of a library in Champaign, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 320-square-foot library.
As of July 8, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. The Champaign Public Library seeks a General Contractor for the interior renovation to the existing 320 sq ft space at the Douglass Branch Library, located at 504 E. Grove St., Champaign, IL. 61820. The General Contractor will be required to complete the entire scope of work as outlined in the contract documents and to work closely with the architect and Library personnel to develop and maintain a workable project schedule to minimize public and staff inconvenience. The General Contractor will also be responsible for coordinating the schedules of any required subcontractors, movers and/or furniture installers. There are two sets of diversity goals in place for this project: (1) A utilization goal of 10% MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) and 5% WBE (Woman Business Enterprise). Utilization goals refer to the percentage of work performed by MBE or WBE subcontractors on the project. (2) A workforce participation goal of 20% MBE and 15% WBE. Workforce participation goals refer to the percentage of minority and female individuals employed on a project. Bidders shall submit with each bid a bid bond reflecting TEN PERCENT (10%) of the total bid amount in the form contained in the bid documents. The bond shall be secured by a certified check, letter of credit, bank draft, bank cashier's check or surety licensed to do business in the State of Illinois. The bond shall be payable without condition to the Champaign Public Library for the same amount. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Payment and Performance Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the total contract amount within fourteen (14) days of the Notice of Award. The bond shall be secured by a certified check, letter of credit, bank draft, bank cashier's check or surety licensed to do business in the State of Illinois and made payable to the Champaign Public Library. Liquidated damages shall be charged at the rate of $500 per calendar day for failure to achieve substantial completion and at the rate of $500 per calendar day for failure to achieve final completion. Bid award date: August 21, 2024 or September 18, 2024 Project Start Date: December 1, 2024 Completion Date: April 1, 2025 The Champaign Public Library (Library) reserves the right to reject any or all bids or portions thereof and to waive any formality or technicality in any bids in the interest of the Library.
