Through this Request for Proposals, the City of Penticton invites qualified contractors to submit proposals for the construction of the Lake-to-Lake Bike Route, Section 1 (along South Main Street, from Galt Avenue to Skaha Park). The Work can be briefly summarized as follows: a. Continuation of the Lake-to-Lake Bike Route on South Main Street, beginning at the roundabout and ending at Skaha Park. This will complete approximately 1.7 km of bike lane on each side of South Main Street adding 3.5 km of bike lanes to Penticton’s existing cycling network; b. Upgrades at Green Avenue and South Main Street will include the addition of left turn bays and the associated traffic signal changes; c. Improved Lighting throughout the entire corridor; d. Enhanced crosswalks at various locations throughout the corridor; e. Island medians constructed of poured-in-place concrete for enhanced aesthetics; f. Construction of “floating” bus stops which situate bus landings in between vehicle travel lanes and the bike lane; g. Various storm improvements (catchbasins) to support the new curbing.
