Future upgrade to the Willowbrook Rail Yard, fire watermain system, the facility has an estimated 3,000-meter-long underground pipe that is approximately 44 years old. It was originally constructed using Thickness Class 52 ductile iron pipe that is now significantly degraded. Over the last 10 years the fire watermain pipes have experienced multiple breaks at various locations, with the frequency and severity of these breaks increasing as the condition of the asset worsens and continues to further degrade. TIMELINE: The owner has issued a Request For Qualify and Quote to retain the services to secure an engineer for the upgrade to the Willowbrook Rail Yard. Metrolinx is accepting Submissions for responses from qualified Proponents for the provision of performing a comprehensive review of the present condition of the existing fire main at the Willowbrook Rail Yard; to develop a strategic constructability plan and complete costing associated with the fire main replacement as required, to bring this critical fire protection asset to compliance with all applicable laws and regulations The objective of this Request to Qualify and Quote (RQQ) is to solicit proposals from Proponents for the provision of performing a comprehensive review of the present condition of the existing fire main at the Willowbrook Rail Yard; to develop a strategic constructability plan and complete costing associated with the fire main replacement as required, to bring this critical fire protection asset to compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
