Remodeling and renovation of a military facility in Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Completed plans call for the remodel of a military facility.
The scope for this project calls for construction of a metal building canopy to the east of building 843 in a existing equipment courtyard ( see attachment 001 ). The existing equipment courtyard is enclosed by a chain link fence and is open to the weather. This task order shall design & construct a canopy to enclose a portion of this existing equipment courtyard. The canopy dimensions shall be approximately 200-0 length x 50-0 width (east side of yard only). The interior ceiling height shall be 16-0 min to bottom of structure. The canopy design shall resemble the canopy recently constructed on the east side of building 843 ( see attachment 002 ). The canopy shall be free standing structure and thereby be supported by footings, foundations, steel columns and beams as designed by a licensed structural engineer with stamped drawings and details to indicate all appropriate construction. The canopy shall have overhangs to the north and south. Provide lighting and fire sprinkler protection. The canopy shall require concrete footings for columns. Provide gutters and downspouts and route roof drain water to the existing stormwater drain line ( see attachment 003 ). Provide heat tape trace in all gutters and downspouts. Provide a programmable heat trace panel ( exterior rated ) and provide notification ( data ) to EMCS in building 593. Provide a 5-0 width river rock strip all around perimeter of building except for hard surface areas. Provide positive drainage away from the finished floor. The finished floor will consist of a concrete slab on grade and shall be 6 thick - reinforced concrete (east side only). The west side finished floor will be asphalt pavement similar to what is existing in depth and materials. Provide a standing seam metal roof ( machine seamed double fold lock ). Provide a roof slope of 1 in 12-0. Provide a minimum interior height at lowest point to 16-0. This shall be measured to the underside of the steel joists. Provide a minimum of 30 footcandles lighting - at underside of canopy. The underside of the canopy shall be painted white. All canopy components ( i.e beams, columns, joists, metal roof, accessories ) shall be painted Dakota brown. Provide paint samples to the CE PM for approval before painting. See attachment 003 for known existing site utilities. Provide for earthquake protection ( seismic ). The contractor shall remove the existing fence enclosing the courtyard and provide a new fence with privacy inserts at same or similar location as existing. The fence can be chain link, but must be vinyl coated black - this includes ALL the components of the fence. Coordinate location of fence with the customer and the CE PM. The site shall be Red-staked before starting any construction. And or design - in order to determine the appropriate locations for footings. Note: the project will need to relocate overhead power and underground sewer lines from the project site area to accommodate canopy construction. These are private utilities and owned by City Power and Light and American Water respectively. A connection fee agreement with 1st right of refusal with each private utility company for any work associated with these assets must be agreed upon prior to any work commencing to these utilities. Provide geo-technical test borings at extents of project limits. Provide in a report as a deliverable at the 35% stage. Footing design shall be based upon the geo-technical report. Provide a equipment layout as architectural drawing depicting equipment location to ensure adequate space and clearances. The D/B ( Design/Builder ) shall get this information from the user. This shall be provided at the 35% design stage. The D/B shall produce a 100% complete set of drawings - For Construction set approved by the CE PM and the user ( 309th MXSS ) before any construction begins. See para. 7.0 herein for complete design submittal requirements.
