A timeline for award has not yet been established.* The City of Lynn is soliciting bids for the following: ELEVATOR MODERNIZATION BREED MIDDLE SCHOOL 90 O'CALLAGHAN WAY, LYNN, MA 01905. The scope of work includes but is not limited to, the modernization of the existing passenger elevator including selective demolition, elevator equipment (machine room, hoistway, cab and landings), selective structure, mechanical, electrical and fire alarm system. The estimated cost of the work is $410,000. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 44A-J and to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.149 26 to 27H inclusive. General Bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the following category of work, General Building Construction and must submit a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Prime/General Contractor Update Statement. Each general bid and filed sub-bid shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the form of a bid bond, or cash, or a certified check on, or a treasurer's or cashier's check issued by a responsible bank or trust company, payable to the City of Lynn in the amount of five percent (5%) of value of the bid. Bid deposits will be dealt with as provided in Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 44B. Bids shall be made on the basis of the Minimum Wage Rates as determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Industries, Pursuant to the Provisions of Chapter 149, Sections 26 to 27D inclusive of Massachusetts General Laws, a copy of which is attached to and is made a part of the Contract. Bidders' selection procedures and contract award shall be in conformity with applicable statues of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Performance and Labor and Materials payment bonds in the full amount of the contract price will be required from the successful bidder. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to reject any or all general bids, if it be in the public interest to do so, and to reject any sub-bid on any sub-trade if it determines that such sub-bid does not represent the sub-bid of a person competent to perform the work as specified or that less than three such sub-bids were received and that the prices are not reasonable for acceptance without further competition. Bidders requiring clarification or interpretation of the Contract Documents shall make a written request to the Prime Designer or Owner. Prime Designer or Owner will answer such requests if received five days (5) working days (Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays excluded) before the date for receipt of the bids.
