Concrete, 6 IN; 2943 L.F. of 4" Longitudinal Subdrain including Porous Granular Bedding & Backfill; and work as normally associated with a PCC street reconstruction and improvement project Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the ENGINEER and accompanied by a bidder's bond with corporate surety satisfactory to the City, a check drawn on and certified by an Iowa bank or a U.S. chartered bank, or a certified share draft drawn on an Iowa credit union, and preferably in a sealed envelope separate from the one containing the bid. Including the bond in the same envelope as the bid is done at the bidder's risk and shall not be a basis to disqualify a bid. The bidder's bond shall be an amount at least equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid and made payable to the City of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and may be cashed by the City as liquidated damages in the event the successful Bidder fails to enter into a contract within thirty (30) days after award of the Contract and post bond satisfactory to the City of Mount Pleasant insuring the faithful performance of the Contract. The bid security of the lowest three Bidders may be retained for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days until a contract is awarded or rejection made. Other bonds or checks shall be returned after bids are tabulated. The successful Bidder shall be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, said bonds to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council; and shall guarantee faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the City from the claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the Contractor; and shall guarantee maintenance of the improvements for a period of two (2) years from and after its completion and acceptance by the City Council. A Notice to Proceed shall be issued upon execution of the Agreement by the City for work to begin after Labor Day. The Mount Pleasant 'H' Street Reconstruction 2024 for Mount Pleasant, Iowa, shall be fully completed on or before June 30, 2025. The Bidder agrees to pay as liquidated damages the sum of $300 for each consecutive calendar day after June 30, 2025, if work is not fully completed. A contract will be awarded for all the work to the single successful bidder complying with this Notice and the Instructions to Bidders. The City Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities.
