It is the intent to purchase recycled concrete dense graded aggregate base course blend on an as needed basis. the Recycled Material Shall Consist of at Least 98% by Weight, Portland Cement Concrete With No More Than 2% Wood or Other Deleterious Material Including: Asphalt Concrete, Brick, Mica and Weathered or Decomposed Stone. All Materials Delivered Shall Be Subject to Random Testing. Materials That Fail to Meet Specifications Will Be Immediately Removed From the Delivery Site. Costs for Testing (Materials That Fail Only) and Its Removal Will Be Borne by the Contractor. Tests Will Include: California Bearing Ratio (Cbr), Astm D 1883, Astm D 1557 Method D, Plasticity Index and Resistance to Abrasion - Astm D- 424, Adtm C131 and Soundness of Aggregates - Astm C88. Bids Must Be Accompanied by Bid Bond, Certified Check or Money Order Payable to Town of Islip in the Amount of $3,500.00. Bids Will Be Accepted Only From Bidders Whose Equipment is Sufficient in Size and/or Capacity to Supply the Town, 3,000 Cubic Yards Per Week. Quantities Shall Be the Amount of Material Ordered During the Contract Period, With a Minimum of 1,500 Cubic Yard Delivery Per Order The Islip Town Board Reserves the Right to Waive Any Formality and/or Informality or to Reject Any or All Bids Received or to Award a Contract to One or More Bidders for an Item, Group(S) of Items or All Items of the Bid, When in the Opinion of the Town Board, Such an Action Will Be in the Best Interest of the Town. In the Event Bids Are Rejected or No Bids Are Received, the Purchasing Department is Authorized to Re-advertise for Bids.
