The New York State Bridge Authority (NYSBA) is soliciting proposals from professional engineering firms to perform an updated study and conceptual design of System-Wide Pier Protection on five of six Hudson River crossings: Rip Van Winkle Bridge, Catskill, New York, Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, Kingston, New York, Mid-Hudson Bridge, Poughkeepsie, New York, Walkway Over the Hudson, Poughkeepsie, New York and the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge in Newburgh, New York. The study shall evaluate the potential risk for catastrophic vessel collisions, determine the most reasonable vessel design and develop at least three schemes to improve pier protection at EACH of the five Authority facilities. Study shall be prepared in accordance with the current AASHTO Guide Specifications for Vessel Collision Design of Highway Bridges. The successful proposer shall demonstrate to NYSBA a successful history of similar performances for operators of bridges of the type and size of NYSBA's facilities.
