A dirt median along Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys is poised for a makeover using funding from Measure W. THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF IMPROVEMENTS TO THE EXISTING MEDIAN ISLAND LOCATED ON SEPULVEDA BOULEVARD BETWEEN HAYNES STREET AND LEMAY STREET. THE MEDIAN ISLAND IS 13 FEET WIDE AND APPROXIMATELY 1,285 FEET IN LENGTH. IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDE THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 5-FOOT WIDE CONCRETE SIDEWALK, A 7-FOOT WIDE IRRIGATED PLANTING AREA INCLUDING 26 NEW STORMWATER PARKWAY SWALES AND 27 NEW STREET TREES, AN IMPROVED BUS STOP WITH NEW SITE FURNITURE, AND STREET IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING 4 NEW CURB RAMPS, 3 UPGRADED CURB RAMPS AND 5 NEW CONTINENTAL CROSSWALKS.
