Renovation of an educational facility in Platteville, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

In general, the work consists of: demolition of an existing chiller and cooling tower in Markee Pioneer Student Center. Installation of one new 900-ton centrifugal chiller in the existing Markee Pioneer Student Center mechanical room. The existing cooling tower support structure will be modified as necessary for the installation of the new cooling tower. All necessary piping, pumps, valves, controls, motors, and electrical wiring will be replaced to serve the new chiller. New piping will include new condenser water risers from the mechanical room on the first floor to the roof. SES Project Number 13531.00 SES Report Number 24.0'11 A new concrete areawell and new openings in the foundation wall into the mechanical room are to be added at the east side of the Markee Pioneer Student Center to facilitate a path for chiller installation / replacement. New direct buried chilled water piping will be extended from the existing mechanical room to existing direct buried chilled water piping headers outside of the Student Center. Direct buried piping will also be extended from the existing direct buried piping mains to Ottensman Hall. New chilled water piping will be installed in Ottensman Hall from the point of entry from the new direct buried piping to connect to existing piping such that Ottensman Hall cooling will be served by the campus chilled water system. Demolition of existing equipment and piping within Ottensman Hall consists of only what is necessary for connections of new piping. This project is being let using the single prime bidding and contracting process. DFD will publicly bid the applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) divisions of work first. Within 5 days of the MEP bid opening, DFD will identify a lowest, qualified, responsible, certified bidder in each applicable MEP division of work. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts with the successful MEP bidders. If a project does not include any mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or fire protection divisions of work, DFD will bid one bid package for all work to general prime contractors.
