Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Hamilton, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a 140,000-square-foot, 800-seat educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
Construction of 2 distinct new French-language secondary schools on the same site. The 2 school boards will be sharing a single building; approx. 400 students each. The school will replace the east Mountain's Académie Catholique Mère-Teresa and Westdale's Georges-P.-Vanier high schools, both former elementary schools. The new school will service students from as far away as Brantford and Simcoe. Some spaces will be shared between the 2 schools, such as a cafeteria, auditorium and sitting areas. The entire building will have a footprint of approx. 140,000 sq ft. Catholic school - Académie Catholique Mère-Teresa (MonAvenir). Secular school - École Secondaire Georges-P.-Vanier (Viamonde). TIMELINE: Preliminary planning is underway. Site has been secured. Scope of work is under review with the owners and has yet to be finalized. Rezoning approvals are in place; the project still requires site plan approvals from the city of Hamilton. There are currently no construction timelines. Further update early 2026. *Provincial funding from the Ministry of Education (MOE) is in place. Both boards have received 2.4 million from Heritage Canada, in addition to 26.5 million in funding announced in 2016 from the MOE.
