The Town of Northfield is accepting bids for up to 5,000 cubic yards of 1 '/4" plant mix, and up to 3,000 yards of 3/4" plant mix. The material shall meet or exceed State of Vermont/AASHTO specifications. The Town is seeking prices for both a delivered price and at the pit. Please note that the town may consider splitting bids between two different vendors. Specifications for Sub-base Crushed Gravel The material shall be produced from natural gravels or crushed rock and shall reasonably free from silt, loam, clay, and organic matter. The material shall be obtained from approved sources and meet or exceed the following standards: Coarse: 1000 (4 inch) 95-100 4.75 (No. 4) 25-50 150 pm (No. 100) 12-10 75 pm (No. 200) 0-6 Fine: 50 mm (2 inch) 100 37.5 mm (1 1/2 inch) 90-100 150 pm (No. 100) 0-12 75 pm 0-6 2. Percent of Water: The percent of water of the crushed gravel shall be not more than 40 percent when tested in accordance with AASHTO. 3. Fractured Faces: At least 50 percent, by mass, of the material coarser than 4.75 (No. 4) sieves shall be at least one fractured face. The material will be sampled and tested by the Highway Foreman (the Town reserves the right to test the product at anytime). Measurements shall be by truck measure. The supplier will coordinate delivery of the material with the Road Foreman. The Town reserves the right to purchase any product from other than the accepted bidder. The Town reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids. The Town reserves the right to purchase the material from any supplier that is in best interest of the Town.
