Saving Project...

Demolition and site work for a mixed-use development in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for the demolition of a military facility; for site work for a military facility; and water / sewer project.

Building 530 is a trailer located on the north side of campus. A previous vendor, through the General Services Administration (GSA), was to remove the trailer but only removed the heating and air conditioning system components. The vendor defaulted on the project, and the only recourse left for USDA is to have the entire trailer removed or demolished in place and removed from the USDA Campus. Scope: The Contractor must provide all expertise, labor, supervision, services, equipment, tools, supplies, materials, permits, licenses, transportation, disposal cost, and incidentals as necessary to demolish and dispose the 530 Trailer from the USDA Campus. See attached drawings for details. Contractor must demolish and remove the existing structure in totality including the concrete pad. Contractor must excavate water and sanitary sewer lines shown on attached drawing to determine the location of abandonment. If the water and sewer lines are found to be active or were not abandoned at the cap locations shown, then Contractor must cut and cap the lines at the proposed locations. Contractor must then remove and dispose of the abandoned water and sewer lines. All excavated areas are to be filled with the clean soil, compacted, and leveled. The grounds must be repaired to match existing surrounding grassy areas. Contractor must match all USDA rules and regulations as well as IADOT specifications 2601 for application for seeding areas. o Grass seed must consist of following mix (minimum pounds of pure live seed) Annual Rye Grass - 9 lbs. per acre. Perennial Rye Grass - 40 lbs. per acre Creeping red fescue - 18 lbs. per acre Kentucky blue grass - 126 lbs. per acre Total = 184 lbs. per acre. o Starter fertilizer with minimum guaranteed analysis of 6-24-24 or approved alternate fertilizer must be applied to all areas to be seeded. o Remove all rocks and foreign debris from ground prior to seeding grassy areas. o Prior to seeding, spread a minimum of 6" of clean, black topsoil on disturbed area and disc or harrow until surface has been thoroughly loosened to a depth of 3-4 inches. o Contractor to provide water, equipment, transportation, water tanker, hoses, and sprinklers. o Use enough water to keep the soil moist to a depth of 1" for 21 days. If natural rainfall is adequate to keep the soil moist, artificial watering may not be needed. Contractor must remove all debris daily or, depending upon the volume of the debris, at least weekly so that it does not pose a safety hazard. Location of work: USDA APHIS National Centers for Animal Health, 1920 Dayton Ave, Ames, IA 50010. The estimated magnitude of this procurement is between $25,000 and $100,000. Question Deadline 08/16/2024 at 5:00 PM CT All questions must be submitted in writing via email. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
