It is the intent of this specification to accurately describe the work to be performed to renovate the sand bed filter system at the Wading River Treatment Plant.
Rehabilitation of the West filter bed at the Wading River Treatment Plant. This project is solely for the removal and disposal of the existing course sand top 2" layer of the West filter bed. Plant is located at 250 Balcom Street, Mansfield, MA 02048. The existing West Sand filter occupies 2.3 acres (approximately 630 cubic yards). Construction must be completed by September 31, 2024. Work shall take no longer than 10 business days. The successful Contractor will be required to submit a Labor and Materials Payment Bond in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the contract amount IF contract amount is greater than $25,000.00. Payment bond will be held in the City's Purchasing Office until all work has been accepted by the City. This bond shall be renewable on a yearly basis if this contract is extended due to a contract extension provision. The City reserves the right to make award, in one or more contracts, by item or items, or by total, as may be in the best interest of the City, to the lowest responsible and responsive contractor/company. A written Notice of Award (NOA) mailed or furnished to the successful contractor/company followed by a city Purchase Order shall be deemed to result in a binding contract without further action by either party. The award of any contract shall be subject to appropriation by Municipal Council. Work is expected to begin upon the "Notice to Proceed" by the Superintendent of Water.
