The purpose of this project is to remove a coal refuse (gob) pile eliminating the steep slopes within the project limits. The gob pile will be excavated and transported offsite to a coal wash plant located North of the town of Lonaconing, MD, owned by Ritchie Trucking & Excavating Inc. Silt and waste will be moved to expose the existing culvert pipe. The site will be graded to match the proposed contour elevations. An existing soil borrow pile on site will be used to cover the area. The access road to the gob pile off of Gold Run Road will be upgraded and maintained throughout construction as needed. A vehicle access gate will be constructed at the intersection of the access road and Gold Run Road. The access from Water Station Run Road shall be on the non-paved access road just south of Gold Run Road. The work shall be completed within 60 calendar days from the start date of the contract. If the work is not completed within the time period specified, the contractor will be liable for liquated damages of $ 350 per calendar day as specified in the General Conditions. Scope of Work The Gold Run Gob Pile Reclamation Project (F-001-240-004) is located off Gold Run Road just northwest of the town of Lonaconing, Maryland 21539 in Allegany County. The work shall consist of furnishing all equipment, labor, supervision, and material necessary to ensure that clearing and grubbing, excavation, grading, and revegetation will be carried out to conform to the proposed reclamation plans designated hereafter. The proposed work will involve, at a minimum, but not limited to, the following: 2.1.1 The upgrade and maintenance of access road to the project area. 2.1.2 The clearing and grubbing of all trees and shrubs withing the project area. 2.1.3 The excavation of all refuse material and re-grading of the site. 2.1.4 Moving silt and dead organic material exposing the existing culvert. 2.1.5 The transportation of excavated refuse materials to a coal wash plant North of the town of Lonaconing, MD, owned by Ritchie Trucking & Excavating Inc. 2.1.6 The installation of a vehicle access gate at the intersection of the access road to the gob pile and Gold Run Road. 2.1.7 Submittals for substitutions shall be after the award only. 2.1.8 An Inspectors field office is not required for this contract. Description The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment required to perform the installation of a Vehicle Swing Gate to be placed at the location shown in the Plans, and or as directed by the Engineer. The Vehicle Swing Gate is to be placed and installed such that it adequately restricts traffic through the specified area on the Plans. Vehicle Swing Gate shall be placed at the completion of the work and shall comply with the details shown in the Plans. LOCATION: Maryland Department of the Environment, 160 South Water Street Frostburg, Maryland 21532 The contractor shall pay $350.00 in liquidated damages for every day past the due date of the project that the project is not completed.
