Renovation of a laboratory facility in Canal Point, Florida. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.
Questions and answers. Q1: Can the end user please provide photos of the existing serial/model numbers of both the north and south bard units A1: Attached are pictures of the N and S Bard A/C units. IMG 1130 is the S unit, IMG 1131 is of the N unit. Q2: Per the SOW (Scope Of Work) contractors are to furnish wall mounted hvac units with 8 KW electric heat strips. Only the existing Bard WA351 currently has a heater package. Can the user confirm the existing panel servicing the current Bard W36A2-A00 has spare breaker capacity and a load calculation has been performed to ensure adding an 8KW load does not overload the panel A2: Both the Bard WA351 and the Bard 36A2-Aoo have 8KW heat strips. Both the Bard WA351 and the Bard36A2-A00 have 60A 208V single phase circuits. The AC compressor portion of the units and the heating component are nonconcurrent loads. Therefore, there is no need for a separate circuit just for the heating strips. (If that is what the contractor is implying.) Q3: If the current electrical configuration cannot support the new heat load can contractors offer bard wall mounted heat pumps. A3: The Contractor may submit equal performing material. I would like to point out that if heat pumps were to be installed the heat pumps would also need heat strips for when the heat pump switches from heating to cooling during defrost cycles. Q4: Does the end user have a preference the color of the exterior mounted HVAC units i.e., Beige, Grey, etc. A4: Grey or Beige are excellent choices. Additional Questions. Q5: According to the SOW the siding must match existing siding in material composition, width and texture. Can that information be provided for best match. A5: The siding is Hardie Board or Hardie Plank. Manufactured by James Hardie Corporation. Hardie Board Plank Siding 8 in. wide by 1/4 in. thick. Q6: Contractor to match building paint. Can the color code and specific type be provided A6: The color is gray or grey. Match should be close, but there is some latitude in shade. 2 coats of exterior semi-gloss latex paint. Q7: Can both units be removed at the same time A7: Yes. Q8: Do we submit our PDF proposal and the other requested supporting documents to you prior to bid deadline A8: All documents for your quote should be sent to lynn.hultsusda.gov, and all document need to be submitted prior to the deadline. Q9; SUBMITALS" lists a BARD W36AB-A08 mentions two units as if the two new units to be installed are the same. However, the paragraph under "DEFINABLE FEATURES OF WORK" refers to two different units: W36A2 and WA351. Could you please confirm whether it will be two different air conditioning units, W36A2 and WA351 or will it be two of the same unit W36AB-A08 and the contractor will modify the wall as well A9: "DEFINABLE FEATURES OF WORK" refers to two different units: W36A2 and WA351. Under the heading DEMOLITION is where the two different units, W36A2 and WA351 (WA 3S1) are referred. The Contractor will be installing two W36AB-A08 units to replace the two different models -- W36A2 and WA351 (WA 3S1). The Contractor will modify the wall as well. Q10: Will there be anyone working at the location during the time of AC replacement services A10: Yes there will be people working at the location during the time of the A/C replacement service. Workers that would normally work in the Building where the A/C units are being replaced can and will be relocated during the installation. Q11: Will any other contractors be present during the time of AC replacement services A11: No other contractors will be working on the A/C unit replacement - just those awarded the contract. Other contractors may be at the Sugarcane Field Station. Q12: When is this contract expected to be awarded A12: Sometime after the close of the solicitation. There is no set time frame. There are many variables involved with completing a contract after solicitation. Q13: Is there any expectation to do drywall repairs beyond normal repairs resulting from the removal and installation of the AC units A13: If done correctly there should be no need for drywall repairs beyond the normal repairs for replacing an A/C unit. However, if the contractors make a bunch of holes while moving the thermostat wires then the contractor will need to repair the holes in the drywall. As far as the old thermostats are concerned: the contractor can leave them in place. That will also solve the problem of the contractor repairing those drywall holes.
