The purpose of this project is to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) by replacing existing RPM8 systems with CR-Portals at the Port of Tacoma (Main Truck Exit Gate and Rail Gate) and upgrading ancillary equipment to facilitate operating the main and rail radiation portal monitor (RPM) lanes from the main booth location. Figure 1 shows Terminal 4 with the project locations at Main Truck Exit Gate and Rail Gate Lane identified. This project will be conducted under a single prime contract. RPMs do not emit radiation, x-rays, or other energy, and prior RPM experience is not a prerequisite. A Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) site manager will be onsite or on call to provide technical assistance.
